About
The Realness Preserve is a 501c3 heritage skills school located in the unincorporated community of Kingsbury, TX, just one hour south of Austin. Founder Arielle Crawford, formerly known for her NYC-based sustainable fashion label, teamed up with husband and internationally acclaimed natural builder Simon Gonzalez to found The Realness Preserve, the "natural building nexus of the West."
HERITAGE SKILLS SCHOOL
The Realness Preserve is a 501c3 educational nonprofit specializing in natural building and lifestyle skills. We offer immersive workshops, courses, job training, apprenticeships and kid's classes throughout the year at our HQ in Kingsbury, TX.
NATURAL BUILDING NEXUS
The Realness Preserve is proudly built by Texas Cob Co, our natural building construction company. Our headquarters is a showcase for cob, adobe, hempcrete, crop based infill construction and lime plaster. We are 100% built from local, native materials using both traditional and modern techniques!
LAND REGENERATION
Belive it or not, this place was a dump! Formerly the original county K-12 school, our property was condemned through years of misuse. We've restored it to its natural beauty through manual labor, permaculture techniques and water collection. We're now bursting with market-style gardens and native plants and pollinators.
COMMUNITY
This land was made for you and me. The Realness Preserve is a shared homestead, with several permanent family residences working together to build, garden, ranch and produce events.
VALUE-DRIVEN
We're a plastic-free community, an oasis from synthetics, toxins, chemicals and single-use waste. We grow and make what we can, and source the rest locally by operating within a community of like-minded farmers and artists.
A WORK IN PROGRESS
Our expansion includes includes rentals and residencies, communal amenities, workshops and classes, recreational offerings, events and retail.
IT TAKES A VILLAGE
Our little engine is fueld by revenue from our construction company, proceeds from workshops, grants, private donors, crowdfunding and tax-deductible donations to the nonprofit. Your support of natural building takes us up the mountain.
